The Wildland Fuels Reduction Program was established in the summer of 2006 to assist homeowners within the wildland urban interface communities of Carson City to provide for defensible space on their property. Creating defensible space is a key element critical to reducing the threat and effects of a wildland fire. To learn more about the wildland fire danger in your area, and what you can do to increase the safety of your property, contact Carson City Fire Department at (775) 887-2210.

If you are located within the wildland urban interface you may qualify for a dumpster or trailer to haul away the dead vegetation. Search your address using MapGeo to determine your location, if you are located outside the GREEN line you can reserve a trailer or dumpster at no cost. Trailers and dumpsters are provided at no cost through grants obtained from the Bureau of Land Management.
